HISTORY OF PINE MANOR / MILLER
POULTRY –
Family owned
since 1942
The extensive
history of Miller Poultry dates back many years to
a time period when our parent company, Pine Manor,
Inc. was established.
We have used
this time wisely in order to develop a strong and
extensive knowledge base of what the poultry industry
should be.
We will continue
to use what we know to perfect our craft, and to bring
you the consumer, the highest quality chicken that
we can.
1942 signified
the year that Milo and Annas Miller decided to move
onto the Pine Manor Farms. At that time, Pine Manor
Farms was the home of an upscale dairy farm. 1945
moved on quickly to 1947 when the Pine Manor Farms
began hatching, raising and processing turkeys. It
was a turning point in 1974 as Pine Manor began raising
broiler chickens. A short four years later, Pine Manor
had begun hatching chicks themselves.
Raising ducklings
for Culver Duck Farms in Middlebury, Indiana was the
next step that Pine Manor took in 1985. Pine Manor
wasted no time as it took over Booth Poultry in 1992.
They were processing 16,000 chickens per week at that
time.
This amount
of production allowed the first phase expansion just
one year after taking over Booth Poultry. Merely two
years after the first phase expansion was the second
phase expansion at the processing plant. This expansion
increased the weekly volume of the processing to 30,000
chickens per week. Not only did it expand the quantity,
it also enabled the quality and new processing techniques
to be implemented.
In the same
time frame of taking over Booth Poultry the purchase
of Martin’s Feed Mill which was located in New
Paris, Indiana happened. Significant renovations were
made to the feed mill at that time which allowed the
quality of feed for the chickens to be monitored.
Only two years had gone by from the second expansion
at the processing plant when a third expansion was
made in 1997. Processing was now at 50,000 chickens
per week. Further additions to the last expansion
allowed for the increased capacity to process 35,000
chickens per day.
A new automated
weigh and cut-up system was installed at the processing
plant in 2000. The additions to update equipment and
technology to the processing plant continue to ensure
our customers with the highest quality chicken we
can produce.
The
history of Miller Poultry has shown the expansion
of the company from day one and the commitment to
continue to serve you the customer the highest quality,
pure and natural chicken possible.
